Merkrete Pro Patch Plus is a quick setting polymer modified Portland cement based skim coating
compound for embossed leveling resilient floors and the finishing and smoothing of interior ands exterior subfloors.
Pro Patch Plus is specifically formulated to smooth out and finish substrates prior to the installation of resilient, carpet,
ceramic tile and stone tiles.
Pro Patch Plus can be used from featheredge to 1/2" for repairing subfloors. Pro Patch Plus is suitable for skim
coating of unfinished, rough concrete. Pro Patch Plus is ideal for filling voids, holes, and cracks in plywood and
concrete substrates. When preparing and leveling plywood underlayment seams use Pro Patch Plus. Properly
prepared well bonded cutback adhesives, embossed resilient vinyl floors and existing ceramic tile installations can be
skim coated with Pro Patch Plus in residential and light commercial construction.

Installation
Surface Preparation: All floor covering to be smoothed must be well bonded to the sub floor and shall be dry, free of
adhesives, paint, wax, dirt, grease, or any other foreign materials that may inhibit bond. Old cutback adhesive must
be thoroughly dry, hard and bonded. Scrape off ridges and remove any loose cutback. Surfaces must be between
40º F (4º C) to 95º F (35º C).
Mixing: Add approximately 3 quarts (2.85 l.) of cool potable water for every 25 lbs. (11.34 kg.) of powder in a clean
mixing container. Using a low speed mixer (300 RPM or less) add the powder to the water and mix to a lump free
consistency. Avoid air entrapment and prolonged mixing which will shorten pot life. Do not over water. Mix only
enough Pro Patch Plus that can be used in 20 minutes.
Application: Apply the mixed Pro Patch Plus immediately by using a flat edged trowel to force the initial coat into
the substrate. Finish the mixture to the desired thickness and smoothness. Avoid excessive heat or drafty conditions
during curing period. Pro Patch Plus should not be over troweled. Use water on the trowel to make the finishing of
the mixture easier. If material becomes too stiff to work, discard. Drying time is 1/2 to 1 hour depending on ambient
temperature and thickness. Any ridges or unevenness left in the patch can be scraped smooth with the clean flat
edge of a trowel or sanded after a hard set.
Limitations: Do not use ProPatch below 40º F (4º C) or above 95º F (35º C). Use caution; do not allow patch
to freeze for the first 72 hours. Do not use over gypsum based substrates. Cutback adhesive from the past may
contain asbestos. Consult the Resilient Floor Covering Institute’s (RFC www.rfci.com) recommendations for
removal or preparation. Use as resilient floor leveling for preparation of resilient floor covering only. Do not
use for leveling large areas, use Merkrete Underlay SLU. For use of Pro Patch Plus over additional substrates or

Cleaning: Water is all that is needed to remove any uncured mortar from tools, equipment and hands.
Coverage: 25 lb. bag will cover 25 sf at 1/8" thickness, 12 – 13 sf at 1/4" thickness.
One pound will cover 1 sf at 1/8" thickness.
